Rogers BlackBerry Curve 8900 unboxing and first impressions

The Rogers BlackBerry Curve 8900 made its way into our office this afternoon and I’ve put together some first impressions and pics for you. The first thing that struck me about the device was the amazing form factor. The device fits so nicely in the palm of your hand and it’s very lightweight. As someone who loved the original Curve, this device seemed like the perfect upgrade. The new OS makes it look especially sweet.

The device was a little choppy at first. While scrolling through menu options, it would drag a little but that started to work itself out. I got the impression that when you first power up the device, it has some thinking to do and that was causing the delays. After a few minutes, things were scrolling around just fine. Other than that, this device was everything I expected it to be. It’s going to be a hit with anyone who likes the awesome power of the BlackBerry, in an easy to manage, slick Curve style. Nice going RIM! Enjoy the pics.

BlackBerry Thunder 9500 surfaces, taking on iPhone 3G

The full touch-based BlackBerry Thunder 9500 has been awash in rumors online. Now several official photos have leaked to prove that the Thunder is a real deal and it will boast a spanking new Blackberry Touch UI OS.

If you have accidentally felt that you may be riding the tech wave with your super latest high tech mobile phone, RIM might just be able to prove you wrong. While we are still waiting for an official announcement, meet the BlackBerry Thunder.

The BlackBerry Thunder 9500 will run on a new Blackberry OS that's fully touch-centric and will sport an extra large touchscreen TFT display (it's not really a mere 2.5-incher, sorry folks, our bad!) with 360 x 480 pixels resolution. Most importantly it will be a hybrid device, working in GSM and EV-DO networks supporting EDGE/HSDPA and built-in GPS.

Interestingly enough, those press-grade photos leak just days before the Apple iPhone 3G release in what seems to be a Blackberry PR attempt to dissuade some potential iPhone 3G customers.

And indeed, it looks like Apple iPhone 3G has got a tough competitor in the face of the BlackBerry Thunder. The latter will run a carrier music store which is similar to the iPhone's iTunes store and will allow users to purchase songs directly from their device.

Internet browsing on BlackBerry Thunder will be significantly improved to match the superb Safari browser in the iPhone. We hope the Thunder will also sport the sweet auto screen rotation feature as well - it's all about accelerometers these days.

The feature-rich device will probably run on the 624 MHz CPU known from the recently announced Blackberry Bold.

The BlackBerry Thunder 9500 will be exclusively available for Verizon and Vodafone customers but its pricing and availability are not confirmed by a reliable source.

9000 BOLD BATTERY DOOR

METAL SERIES
SILVER
PINK
GREEN
GOLD
COPPER
BLUE
BLACK

thats right!! i've brought it back. i like these so much i've decided they should get their own post. anyway, for those who are lookin at it the first time, these are completely metal, and its thick. therefore it is heavier than normal plastic ones. it gives ur bold that "STURDY" and "SOLID" feel. i love it. if u remember, i have the copper one back in december. as for scratches, well shit, it will definately scratch, but that really depends how u use it. i've used mine for a month and it still looks new. and no the color will not fade. match urs with ur existing color bezel, or match it with ur next order of color bezel!!

obviously these are not real croc skin. but they feel like real leather though. and it gives it that "expensive" look to it if u wanna keep ur original bezel and all. simple and subtle. or if u wanna pimp it out with color bezel, go crazy =)
